As the original focus of the Education Foundation, the Grants for Inspiration & Innovation Program funds innovative classroom projects that would not otherwise be possible due to school district budget constraints. Since our inception in May 2000, the Education Foundation has awarded more than $2.9 million to ECISD teachers throughout the district through its grants program. The Education Foundation encourages all ECISD teachers to apply for funding for programs/projects that bring inspiration and innovation to the classroom.
The Teacher Assistance Program (T.A.P.) offers timely support to teachers for projects directly benefiting student learning. Eligible requests include funding for innovative ideas, project supplies, classroom books, and educational field trips, with a cap of $1,000 per request. Technology requests are handled separately. Applications are reviewed monthly from October to April, with approved applicants presenting their proposals to the Education Foundation Grants Committee. Once accepted, funds are promptly disbursed.
The Bookworms Literacy Program is designed to help increase literacy and foster a life-long love of reading.
From October through March, students in grades Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade will read along to a story in class and then receive a copy of the book to take home to keep in an effort to promote at-home family reading. Bookworms has grown over recent years to include the introduction of Bookworm Vending Machines at 38 campuses across ECISD, and a Bookworms Incentive Program at the elementary level.
Give us a call to learn how you can help bring the gift of reading to the students in ECISD through the Bookworms Literacy Program!
The Education Foundation is proud to have placed a Bookworm Vending Machine in schools throughout ECISD to provide an incentive for students! These machines, created by Global Vending Group, vends books using special tokens that students earn for good behavior, good grades, meeting academic goals, etc. The books that students earn with a token are for the student to keep in an effort to promote at-home family reading.
There are currently 38 vending machines across the district!
The Education Foundation welcomes support from the community to help keep these machines full of new books for students of all ages and reading skills to enjoy.

The Education Foundation of Odessa is partnering with Chevron and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to bring the gift of reading to children in Ector County. Through this partnership, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library will provide one engaging, high-quality book a month to Ector County children from birth to age five at no cost to families.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is now available to all age-eligible children in Ector County. Parents may visit imaginationlibrary.com to sign up.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library mails books to more than 2 million children a month and must place book orders a month in advance. Depending on when you register your child, it may take up to eight to twelve weeks for the first book to arrive. After that, the books will come every month.
For example, if you registered your child on January 6th and were approved by your local affiliate in January, you would receive your first book in March.
That every child in Ector County will be school-ready, college-ready, work-ready…WORLD-READY! Education Foundation of Odessa
